1. The Background
By day, I am a business lawyer based in Marunouchi, Tokyo, specializing in Labor and Intellectual Property law. My world is one of complex contracts, detailed negotiations, and the logical pursuit of my clients’ best interests.
But when the work week is done, my professional lens turns to my true passions. This blog is the record of that pursuit.
2. The Mission
This blog, “R’s Tokyo Eats Picks,” serves two missions.
First, it is my personal collection of “case files” on Tokyo’s most authentic, unpretentious food—the kind of places you won’t find in glossy magazines. My interests range from the disciplined art of a master sushi chef and exquisite unagi restaurants to the simple perfection of a neighborhood yakitori joint.
Second, this is a practical exercise for me. I am currently studying English to better handle my international cases. You may find some unique phrasing here and there; please consider it part of the journey. In a way, we are exploring together.
3. The Lawyer Behind the Picks
Handle Name: Marunouchi Lawyer R (MLR)
Legal Field: Labor & Intellectual Property Law
Passions: A satisfying round of golf, a weekend drive to escape the city, and, of course, the perfect meal.
My Philosophy on Food: I believe a ¥700 bowl of ramen can be just as compelling a ‘case’ as a ¥20,000 sushi course. The evidence is in the taste and the dedication of the chef.
4. Closing Argument
Thank you for visiting my collection of evidence. I hope my findings assist you in your own culinary investigations of Tokyo.
